Shipbuilding Team Seeks Canadian Contractors for Navy Project

OTTAWA, Feb. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - On November 24, 2006 Public Works and Government Services announced that the team led by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems Canada (TKMS Canada) Inc. was selected to receive a contract for the Project Definition Phase of the Joint Support Ship project. This contract calls for TKMS Canada Inc. to submit proposals by mid-March 2008 to design and build the ships and provide long-term in-service support.

Towards these goals, TKMS Canada Inc. forged the Canadian North Atlantic Marine Partnership team which is comprised of Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, L3- ES, Maersk Canada Inc., MDA, Peter Kiewit Sons Co. and Xwave.

In executing the JSS Project Definition Phase, TKMS Canada Inc. has fully exported its German-based experience and expertise whilst maximizing industrial and regional benefits through the CANAMP team members.

TKMS Canada Inc., as the Prime Contractor within the CANAMP team, is interested in contracting Canadian companies for equipment and systems to include on our design and construction proposal for this $1.5B project. Companies with expertise and products in any of the following areas:

    - Propulsion;
    - Integrated Platform Management;
    - Electrical, Auxiliary Systems; or
    - Outfit and Furnishings
