Merger of ThyssenKrupp Shipyards and the HDW Group. A new shipyard group is founded resulting in ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG with headquarters in Hamburg.

The shipyard group comprises

The Occupational Safety and Health Authorities (AfA) awards Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH the Occupational Safety Award for “An exemplary Occupational Safety System”.

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG lays the foundations for establishing HDW-Gaarden GmbH. The signing of a contract for the building of two 2,700 TEU container ships provides the economic basis for the new company.

The “U-32” submarine for the German Navy leaves Nordseewerke GmbH in Emden.

The passenger liner “Black Watch” docks at Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH for the first time since November 2003. The Norwegian shipping company Red Band AS had signed the contract with Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH for extensive conversion works at the Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology  trade fair (SMM) in  2004.

Christening of MS “Avalon Poetry” in Volendam, Holland. The river cruise ship, built by Nobiskrug GmbH, is the last in a series of six ships. The owner of MS “Avalon Poetry” is Premicon AG.

Christening of the 2,700 TEU container ship - Yard No. 547 - as “Frisia Kopenhagen”. The shipping group Hartmann Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG ordered the container ship, which was built by Nordseewerke GmbH.

A  Class 209/1400 mod submarine built by Nordseewerke GmbH and destined for the South African Navy is christened “S 102”. Amongst those attending the ceremony was the South African Minister of Defence, Mluleki Editor George.

Handing over of the class 751 research ship “Planet” at Nordseewerke GmbH to the client, the Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement.

Summer fete at Nobiskrug GmbH on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the shipyard. The celebrations included the inauguration of a new hall for the outfitting, repair and conversion of ships.

 

01-07-2005

Christening of the fourth Class 212-A  submarine “U34”.  The submarine was built at Nordseewerke GmbH in Emden. For the present, the “U34” completes an order from the German Navy for a total of four Class 212A ships.

Signing of contract between Kockums AB and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. (KHI) for the delivery of Stirling engines for air-independent submarine propulsion systems. The order is part of the Japanese submarine programme.

Christening of two container ships at Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH in Kiel. The ships, named “Carolina E” and “Andres E”, are part of an order for four 2,500 TEU container ships which was signed in June 2003 with MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Steamship GmbH & Co. KG.

Handing over of the 2,700 TEU container ship “Frisia Kopenhagen” to the shipping group Hartmann Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG. The ship was built at Nordseewerke GmbH.

Nobiskrug wins the order for the repair after extensive fire damage of the 5,939 gross tonnage “Josef Möbius“, a 117.5 metre long drag head dredger. Josef Möbius Bau AG is the client.

Keel-laying of the third Class 130 corvette in Emden. The corvette will be delivered to the German Navy in 2008.

The passenger ship “Albatros”, built in 1973, arrives at Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH for complete engine refitting.

One of the 2,700 TEU container ships built by Blohm + Voss GmbH is christened “Cosco Panama”. The customer is GEBAB Konzeptions- und Emissionsgesellschaft mbH, based in Meerbusch. The ship will be operated by the shipping company Elsfleth Martime GmbH.

Foundation of HDW-Gaarden GmbH with a workforce of around 380 from the merchant marine sector of Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH in Kiel.

The yachts “Golden Odyssey“ and “Golden Shadow“ arrive at Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH for extensive service and overhaul. For both vessels, the client is Golden Fleet Management.

Two new orders are received for the construction of 3,400 TEU container ships; the customer for Yard Nos. 556 and 557 is the Meerbusch-based GEBAB Konzeptions- und Emissionsgesellschaft mbH. The ships will be operated by the shipping company Martime GmbH in Elsfleth.

The submarine “S101” of the South African Navy is commissioned at Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH in Kiel.

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG and T-Systems GmbH will in future be offering a new communication network for ships. The so-called Multi Service Board Network will be the first system to transmit via a single network all communications from equipment or on-board services of any kind, from telephone through video on demand to fire alarms.

Handing over of the third and last Class 124 frigate to the client, the Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement. The frigate “Hessen” was constructed by Nordseewerke GmbH in Emden.

Christening and launching of Yard No. 548 at Nordseewerke GmbH. The 2,700 TEU container ship is christened “Conti Emden”.

 Keel-laying of the fourth Class 130 corvette in Emden at Nordseewerke GmbH.

Celebration of the commissioning of the first MEKO A-200 SAN type corvette, the “SAS Amatola” for the South African Navy. The corvette is the first in her class and has a waterjet propulsion in addition to the propellers.

An order is received by Nobiskrug GmbH for a 68 metre luxury motor yacht. The ship - Yard No. 780 – was designed in collaboration with the Australian design company Pure Detail and accommodates 12 guests.

Changes in the Board of Directors of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG:

Gerhard Kempf, member of the Board of Directors of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG, spokesman of the Board of Directors of the Surface Vessel Division and management spokesman of the Repair Group, steps down from his position and takes retirement.

 

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG’ executive board appoints three further members of the Board of Directors with effect from April 1, 2006.

 

·         Dr. Herbert Aly is made spokesman of the Board of Directors of the Marine Services Division, which was formed from the former Repair Group. He will also represent this division on the Board of Directors of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG.

·         Dr. Christian Eckel changes his position on the Board of the Submarine Division for spokesman of the Surface Vessel Division. Eckel will represent this division on the Board of Directors of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG. Eckel will continue with his duties in the management of Nordseewerke GmbH.

·         Andreas Burmester succeeds Eckel and is made responsible for “Technology” within the Submarine Division.

Order received for the construction of a luxury yacht at Nobiskrug GmbH. The 59.5 metre vessel - Yard No. 779 – had been designed by the Dutch designer Felix Buytendijk and accommodates 12 guests.

During the port of Hamburg’s birthday celebrations, the “Queen Mary 2” docks at “Elbe 17” of Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH. A propulsion unit is to be repaired.

Blohm + Voss GmbH receives an order for a mega yacht. Yard No. 971 was designed by Michael Leach Design Ltd., London.

At HDW-Gaarden GmbH, work is initiated on a series of five container ships with a capacity of 2,700 TEU. The first two container vessels - Yard Nos. 392 and 393 - are destined for the shipping company NSB Niederelbe Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG in Buxtehude. The following three vessels with Yard Nos. 394, 395 and 396 will be constructed for Hermann Buss GmbH & Cie KG in Leer.

Agreement on a common concept for the restructuring of Atlas Elektronik GmbH by ThyssenKrupp AG and EADS N.V.; a joint venture is planned with equal partners.  ThyssenKrupp will have 51 per cent and EADS 49 per cent of the shares.

The takeover of Atlas Elektronik GmbH becomes effective. Initially, ThyssenKrupp AG acquires 60 percent and EADS N.V. acquires 40 percent of Atlas Elektronik. Later, ThyssenKrupp will hold 51 percent and EADS 49. Manfred Meyersieck chairs the management board of Atlas Elektronik.

FC St. Pauli proposes up to three of its own up-and-coming sportsmen per apprenticeship year for an apprenticeship at Blohm + Voss GmbH.

The procurement agency of the German Federal Customs Administration has ordered the ships to be built according to the SWATH principle. (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull). The twin hull vessel has a very small displacement area on the waterline.

Lürssen Werft GmbH & Co. KG). Both Blohm + Voss GmbH and Nordseewerke GmbH are involved in the design, construction and delivery. Delivery of the first frigate is expected to take place in 2014.
