CANAMP Team Member to address Canadian Institute of Maritime Engineers (CIMarE)
Mr. Gregor Schellenburger, a senior naval architect of the Nordseewerke shipyard, a company of the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, will deliver a presentation on Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) vessel design and recent program developments at the forthcoming session of the Canadian Institute of Maritime Engineers on 27 March 2008.
Within ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems Group, Nordseewerke has principal responsibility for the design and construction of naval supply, offshore patrol and container vessels.
However, the focus of Mr. Schellenburger’s address will be the special “niche” that Nordseewerke has established; that being the SWATH vessel.
These vessels are known for their outstanding sea-keeping performance in higher sea states as well as being the products of a very advanced and demanding design process that allows for the assessment and optimization of key hydrodynamic properties. SWATH vessels perform a number of diverse roles such as research, offshore patrol and supply.
ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems Canada leads the CANAMP team pursuing the Canadian Navy’s Joint Support Ship requirement (JSS).
The SWATH presentation will be given at the HMCS Bytown Naval Officers Mess, on March 27th 2008, commencing at 19:00 hrs.
